About Us
A Mission of Cultural Preservation
The Russian Center is a San Francisco-based California 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, whose mission is Russian heritage cultural preservation through its library, museum, dance classes, children’s preschool and annual Slavic Festival. The Russian Center welcomes all individuals interested in Russian culture, provides community building opportunities for Slavic immigrants and strives to foster a deeper appreciation of the Russian heritage, history, language, arts and traditions to enlighten and inspire future generations.

Our Story
The Russian Center of San Francisco was founded in 1939 by Russian immigrants to preserve, celebrate, and exhibit the rich cultural heritage of the Russian and Slavic diaspora through community programs and events. Our mission of preserving Russian-American heritage and culture continues to this day.
Our cultural center includes a museum and library, a bilingual pre-school, children's folk dance classes, and annual festivals. We welcome all individuals interested in Slavic and Russian culture. We provide community building opportunities for Slavic immigrants and serve as a community hub with our Russian-American Directory.
We strive to foster a deeper appreciation of Russian heritage, history, language, arts and traditions to inspire future generations. As a San Francisco California 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (FEIN 94-0822710), we do not engage in, support, or take positions on any political matters.
